Description

Biking the green path
Moving fast on Genesee
Watching the sights—Woosh!

I have been a teacher and a reader of poetry for many years. I see poetry in everyday life, in all things. When I was a student at Syracuse University, I often used Genesee Street as a means to get to campus. The traffic was often hectic and congested.

This haiku poem was written to highlight the sights and sounds missed when we travel by car. Now we have bike lanes in every direction leading to a better sustainable future.

I am from Pennsylvania but grew up in Fayetteville, New York. Syracuse is home to many beautiful places. I chose the haiku to illustrate because of its beautiful tone. Genesee Street is one part of Syracuse I wanted to illustrate. I wanted to use watercolor and ink as an experiment. The result turned out great! Also, biking is one of my hobbies during the summer.

Illustration is my degree. I have been drawing since childhood and want to use my experience in art to make others happy. This project gave me more knowledge of haikus and advertising.
