We invite emerging and professional artists to participate in our annual call for art. It's a great way for you to engage with the city and shape public space.
For artists already on our mailing list, the call for artists to participate gets distributed in early September by postal mail and email. To join our artists' mailing list, send us your contact information via the "Contact Us" form.
The 2026 poster series, to be released in late April, will revolve around the word "quarter" to celebrate the Poster Project's 25th anniversary. You can read about the selected poet/artist pairs and the selection process here.
We will announce the theme of the 2027 poster series in August. The deadline for poets to submit poems is typically Sept. 30. We then allocate a handful of poems to each artist. Artists submit work by mid-November. Announcement of the select poet/artist pairs takes place by the end of the year.
Curious about entry materials? Read our artist's outreach letter for 2026.
As well as the artist's agreement for 2026.

Beyond posters, your work stands a chance of being shared with the public in other ways--via note cards and postcards, booklets, and large-format flat screens.
Thank you!

I really felt honored to be a part of the Syracuse Poster Project because it has a really long lineage of really great paintings to come out of the illustration department. I'm really excited to have been a part of it and done this painting alongside the poet.

I had hoped so much that my poster would be chosen to be downtown, and I’m thrilled that it will be! I’ve wanted to be a part of the Poster Project since I first heard of it.

Thank you so much for this opportunity! I'm honored and loved this project - it was wonderful bringing my writer's work to life. I look forward to working with you on the rest of the process!

I am super honored and happy; thank you for this wonderful project. This is the first time I've won first place, for anything!

It was such a pleasure and an honor working on the Poster Project! I've dreamed about participating since high school. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Thanks for giving me this opportunity. I feel like I am learning things I never thought of about words vs images and how to scan at Staples, and meeting really nice Artists and Poets!
