I had just moved to Syracuse when I heard about the Poster Project. It sounded like a good way to learn about the city and its businesses. I loved the specificity of the poem, giving me the time and street. It felt like a clear directive: Go to Pavone’s for a lunchtime slice.

When I went, the area felt more city-like than the Syracuse I’d seen so far. More signs, diverse people, more hustle, and a little louder. Pavone’s no-nonsense efficiency fell right in line with this too. I decided hand lettering the poem with that energy in mind would best capture my experience.
