One of the things I like to do in my illustration work is play with characters. When I saw the poem was about Shakespeare in the Park, I realized I could have fun with them. I like walking through Thornden Park when the roses are in bloom, which made this poem a perfect opportunity to illustrate these elements I really love.

The poster took a lot of time and patience. I started out doing research for costume designs, traditional Shakespeare characters, and popular plays. I then went to Thornden and took many pictures of the amphitheater.

I haven't taken a lot of literary classes in Syracuse, but I really enjoy Shakespeare's wit. I'll probably read some more of his plays when I have more time.
