    Wind Disrupts Raked Leaves

The haiku I chose allowed me to depict Syracuse both physically and metaphorically. The State Tower Building's rich history and classic art deco design is a stalwart symbol of Syracuse's resilience through the winds of social and economic change. For me, autumn highlights Central New York's beauty best. Swirling leaves transforming into a bird aloft perfectly reflects what I see as one city's upward trajectory. As a Syracuse city resident, I am proud to live in a place where we build upon our own unique past to create a brighter future. I am also thankful to work in a local art community which regularly disrupts the status quo to furiously take flight.
