This haiku stood out to me above all others because of its visual potential. As I read it the garden imagery appealed to the sun deprived person within. When designing my poster I looked for inspiration and the word “maintain” stuck out in my mind. It inspired the fairies to be the maintenance workers and doubled to art as homage to my childhood.

Over time I switched my method and style of works so that it best reflected the haiku. It led me to discover a new work style that I continue to use now.
