As soon as I read Sebastian’s poem, I instantly fell in love with it. Being a self-certified romantic, I instantly connected to the words and envisioned the art I would create.

The woman in the red coat introduced herself to me first; one can only imagine the excited tension she’s feeling confessing her heart. The mystery man reading a newspaper on the bench next to our heroine stepped in quietly behind her. What role does he play in this story? All the while life moves on around them.

Within my illustration, I tried to capture an urgent sense of time. The vehicles traveling left to right represent past and future. The luggage at the woman’s feet signifies a change. In life, I believe it is important to strive to be emotionally honest, just as the lady in the phone booth is attempting.
