    He Made History

I’m from Harlem in New York City. Unfortunately, Moses Fleetwood Walker doesn’t relate to me in any way. However, I find his story of breaking color barriers back in the 1800s compelling. I drew Moses Fleetwood Walker because I wanted to represent someone outside my typical interest. I used a collage of old newspapers as the background to convey how Moses contributed to the evolution of black people being accepted into sports, along with Jackie Robinson, to show people that it’s not only Jackie who made efforts to break societal boundaries. I used transparent colors and eyes without pupils to convey a ghostly look to my poster. This was done because I feel as if we need to shed more light on forgotten historical black figures.
